Papa B's Barn House has been refurbished to look like most of the homes in this area looked in the early 1900's. It was originally built by Mr. Ewel Blackstone in 1948, as a corn barn. Later, it was used as a hay barn. He and his wife, Mrs. Annie, owned 216 acres and raised beef cattle. They lived most of their lives in northeast Texas, except for time he spent building government barricks in Panama.
When their daughter, Carla, and her husband purchased the homeplace, they decided to salvage the barns on the property. The barns were in really bad shape, but Thomas has totally reconstructed them to look as if they are homes left from long ago.
Mr. Ewel was lovingly called Papa B. by his grand children and great grandchildren. When the old barn was refurbished as a house, the family decided it should be called Papa B's Barnhouse.
There is a full kitchen, dining area and parlor located in the 16x36 foot Great Room. A bedroom and an office are located in the lofts that overlook the Great Room. A child's room, a master bedroom, a large bath room and laundry room are located on the first floor with the Great Room.
