When the round up is over, cattle delivered to the rail head, and the cowboys sober up, get out of jail and start back to the ranches,  the rancher that hired them for the season is ready for his bounty.  Cowboys are paid and released till next season.  The out of work cowboy sometimes has to ride the "Chuck Line'.  In other words, he drifts from camp to camp, ranch to ranch looking for work.  Working cowboys never turn down a hungry cowboy...thus, riding the "Chuck Line" was not just a phrase but a reality.  Cowboy was a transit type occupation and seasonal.

Blackstone Ridge gathers these "Chuck Line" riders up every year, not just to feed them but give them honorable employ under the title of Blackstone Ridge Runners. Head Segundo of this motley crew is O.T. Storm (Buzz Gage, long time Pritchett boy) and made up of cowboys from all over Texas.  Many of these boys have had work in Arizona, Louisiana,  Arkansas, Kansas, New Mexico and more, and many drift back that direction again.  Blackstone Ridge Runners forever change with the season and temperament...of Bosses and cowboys.  Expect to see gun fights, showdowns and general rowdiness from this misfit group of pistol packing bunch.  Don't forget your camera...these cow punchers are not camera shy..don't hesitate to talk to any of them or ask for photos with them...this is their bonus and they all want to take up space on your memories of Blackstone Ridge 2011.
