Family History Gathering
Friday and Saturday
November 2nd and 3rd, 2012
This event will be held at the Blackstone Ridge Homestead,
nine miles west of Gilmer on F.M. 49, between Hopewell and Little Mound.
Descendants of James Hugo Blackstone and family members
are invited to attend.
Friday will be spent visiting the local cemeteries. Hopefully, we will be able to include Jefferson Stringer's gravesite. He is buried in the woods, on private property.
The owners have always been co-operative, just a matter of making contact with them.
All descendants of James Hugo Blackstone are encouraged to bring their research, pictures and documents to share. Scanners and printers will be available for copies.
Lots of western Upshur County's history, along with family research, pictures, and documents will be on display in the private research "librarie" on the property.
Many describe these events as old fashioned reunions.
The atmosphere will be relaxed, informal and friendly.
Bring your lawn chairs and plan to spend the day visitng,
while sharing and comparing.
Food concessions will be available for lunch and snacks
The topic of the day will be:
"What was John M. Blackstone's middle name and who was his father?".
If you have documentation for either of these topics, please bring it.
Everyone is welcome, so help spread the word!
